What riding mowers & garden tractors are best for uneven landscapes?
Anybody who owns a sizeable lawn should be prepared to put in the effort needed in its care and maintenance. A yard that is more than a ½ acre would need a bigger machine if you are to mow it effectively without straining. That means the push mowers are out of the question. Riding mowers and garden tractors are what you should be looking for. The only challenge is that you have to get the right one. Usually, the choice for a lawn mower is influenced by three main factors; the operator ability, the acreage, and the terrain. We shall be looking at the terrain. Specifically the type of garden tractors & riding mowers that are best suited for uneven landscapes.
There are three main categories of riding lawn mowers you will come across in the market. The zero-turn mowers, rear-engine riding mowers and lawn & garden tractors. Their configuration is what determines which one will do a perfect job on a hilly terrain. The mower has to be able to put up with the myriad of challenges found on a rugged farm. For starters, it should, a wide stance and low center of gravity helps it to maneuver through hills without sliding. The deck has to be strong enough to withstand the obstacles. You may have to consider getting a heavy-duty fabricated deck just to be sure. The same goes for the blades, and other crucial parts. It could cost a lot more but is nothing compared to the cost of expenses and maintenance whenever the machine breaks down due to weak parts. How quick you get to adjust the cutting deck heights is yet another factor to consider. The faster and more efficient it is the better. Out of the three categories mentioned above, the lawn and garden tractors are the closest thing to what your need. They have high engine powers of between 17 ½ to 27 ph, their mower decks average between 42 and 60 inches, and have a speed of 5 ½ mph. Seeing that you are likely to encounter a variety of models, always go for the one is close to or surpasses the specifications mentioned above. In case of any indecisions between two or more options, try thinking about comfort features like large foot pans, suspension seats, and adjustable control arms. Spending several hours out in the field requires the highest level of comfort and convenience. They will impact greatly on the quality of output. Attachment and safety features will also come in handy. A good riding mower and garden tractor will save you in many ways. For instance, I have lost count of the number of times friends and family have marveled at how the uneven landscape of my lawn is always in good shape. With the right tractor, the hilly yard would not be much of a problem. Secondly, since the right machine would be strong enough, there would be no need for repairs and maintenance services every now and then. Nevertheless, you should try and keep up with new inventions in the market. Any improvements that promise to make your mowing a lot easier should be embraced with both arms. Caring for your yard is a lifelong commitment. One which you have to excel in. Reference Links: |
